A website designed as a gallery, so the work comes first

Where it started
Graciela Lempert makes textured, abstract mixed-media work: relief, texture, reclaimed iron. She had a website with a shop that did not show the work the way she wanted. Before hiring, she asked to see a mockup; she approved it, and the next version came out of a meeting with her advisor: minimalism, the work first and no scrolling.
What was built
A single-screen home: the work in the background, her name in the middle and a three-dot menu with large, centered sections.
68 works in three series, in the order the artist chose, newest to oldest. The gallery has no scroll: it opens on a work and slides in a loop, with arrows, keyboard or a swipe.
A fixed sidebar with the series and their thumbnails: jump straight to the series you want, and every work has its own address to share.
A record for each work (title, series, technique, size, year and whether it is sold), exhibitions by year and by category, a biography, and her Artist Statement next to the curatorial text by Katia Arriola, all in Spanish and English.
Pages are generated by a custom script from each work's data: adding a work does not mean editing HTML by hand.
Tested in Safari on iPhone as well as Chrome: design bugs that only show up there are fixed before delivery.
On her own domain, gracielalempert.uy, with the old website's addresses redirected to the new ones so nothing Google already had is lost.
